The Denver Union Station is located in downtown Denver Colorado. It acts as an operating train station and central transportation hub serving Denver Colorado. It was constructed in 1881. Fire destroyed the station in 1894.
The current structure was erected in two stages with an enlarged central section completed in 1914. The exterior of the Denver Union Station is constructed of granite, sandstone, limestone and terra cotta. Hydro-Tech, Inc. served as a specialty design build restoration contractor on the exterior restoration of this historic structure. Work included replacement and repair of historic granite, sandstone, limestone and terra cotta elements. Replication of missing historic elements was performed including hand tooling and carving, patching and coating. Replacement sandstone and limestone were hand tooled in order to replicate the historic nature of the existing structure. Additional work included full exterior cleaning and sealing of the structure.
